This policy covers information collected through Pacific Data Exchange, including inquiries, dataset submissions, and catalog access. For personal data within a dataset, refer to its documentation and licensing agreement.
Information we receive
When you submit an inquiry, we receive your name, email address, optional company and dataset selection, and the message you provide. Dataset submissions also include the dataset description, source, rights, redaction needs, sales status, licensing preferences, and other details you choose to share. We use these details to review your dataset for listing and contact you; submission details are delivered by email and are not automatically published. Please do not send sensitive personal information, confidential datasets, or information about other people unless you are authorized to do so.
Our hosting provider receives your IP address, requested URL, browser information, and request time. The inquiry service uses your IP address to limit abusive submissions. When you search the inventory, we store your search text, selected domain and modality, result count, and search time to understand demand and identify missing datasets. These search records do not include IP addresses, browser identifiers, or contact details. Please avoid personal or confidential information in search text. Operational errors may produce logs containing an error code and a randomly generated reference.
Catalog access
AI agents can unlock catalog Markdown by supplying the requesting user’s email address with their permission and a declared AI product or model name. We store the email, declared agent, and first and most recent agent access times to administer catalog access. Agent names and emails are self-reported, not verified identities. Query parameters may appear in hosting infrastructure logs. This does not subscribe you to marketing; we retain these records until you request deletion or they are no longer needed for catalog access.

A necessary cookie, pde-catalog-access, remembers access for 30 days. It contains a random token linked to your access record, not your email address. Clearing this cookie means you will need to enter your email again to browse the full catalog.
How information is used
We use inquiry information to respond to your request and discuss data availability, access, and licensing. Search records help us decide what datasets to source or offer. Technical information supports website delivery, troubleshooting, and abuse prevention. Where applicable, responding to a requested transaction relies on steps taken at your request before a contract; operating and protecting the website relies on legitimate interests, subject to your rights.
Submitting an inquiry does not subscribe you to a marketing mailing list. We do not use this website to sell personal information or share it for cross-context behavioral advertising.
Service providers and disclosures
Cloudflare provides our website hosting, security, and database infrastructure. It processes requests and technical information needed to deliver and protect the website and stores the records described in this policy. We also use Cloudflare Web Analytics for page-view and performance measurement when analytics consent is enabled. See Cloudflare’s privacy policy. Email service providers process information needed to deliver inquiries to the website contact inbox. We use Cloudflare Workers AI to assess submission content for likely spam and include an advisory score in the email for human review. We exclude the dedicated name, email, and company fields from this assessment. The score does not block submissions. Information may also be disclosed when required by law or necessary to protect rights and prevent abuse.
Providers may process information outside your country.
Retention and security
Inquiry emails and related correspondence are retained as needed to respond, maintain relevant business records, and meet applicable legal obligations. Search records are retained as needed to understand dataset demand and plan inventory. Technical records are subject to the hosting and email services’ retention settings. The consent preference described below expires after 180 days. You can ask for deletion using the contact address below.
We use reasonable measures to protect information, but no internet transmission or storage system can be guaranteed secure.
Your privacy rights
Depending on your location, you may have rights to access, correct, delete, or receive a copy of personal information, restrict or object to processing, and withdraw consent where processing relies on it. Send requests to the contact below. We may need information to verify your request. You may also complain to your local data protection authority.
